THE BEHAVIOUR TRAITS PROGRAM
The sense of achievement students feel, when their three (or four) years of hard work materialize in the form of a degree, quickly evaporates when they step out into the real world. It is our own experience as well as that of millions of graduates, that we felt a sense of disorientation and in many cases, felt like misfits, when we stepped into our cubicles in our first jobs. We feel like we know next to nothing in spite of three to four years of hard slog. In what the companies expect of us and what we are able to deliver, exists a huge gap, an abyss many fresh graduates fall into and never quite manage to climb out of. The reason? Lack of awareness about what is required in the professional world.
This program is designed to fill a gap that exists between what the students are currently equipped with in terms of their knowhow, and what the companies are looking for.
What is the program’s relevance?
Identifying the behavioral traits, or their combination, talents of students can be identified, nurtured, converting potential to dynamism. The focus here is on two-fold awareness: Self and People. Once students get to know what kind of personality trait they carry, they are well equipped to take decisions that suit their personality type. This means that they will choose the company whose culture fits their personality type. Also, whichever company they find themselves in, they will recognize and understand the personality types they will encounter, and they will be perfectly armed to deal with all kinds of people and situations.
How does the program benefit students?
This program suits the pre-final year and final year students as well as students in 11th and 12th standards, who are preparing to step out into colleges and then beyond into the world of corporates and other professions
Through the program, students identify themselves and their acquaintances as one of the above personality types. This self-awareness leads them to recognize their behavioral strengths and weaknesses. Their strengths will be enhanced and weaknesses will be balanced out as much as is possible.
This attitudinal change will help them deal appropriately with people they will most certainly encounter in any vocation they find themselves in. In other words, they will improve behaviorally with respect to their weaknesses that hitherto hindered their progress. In doing so, they will appreciably better their chances of succeeding in any professional environment.
How does the program benefit the college/institution?
Based on the personality profiling done through the program, we will make lists of students who fall into each personality type. This will help the college placement unit determine which student will fit into what job position and the type of company that will suit them best. Such a targeted approach would increase the placement rate considerably.
Additionally, the shortcomings that are hindering their chances of success can be worked on by the placement unit. The success rate of placements will naturally go up.
How is the program delivered to students?
There are two levels to the program: 1. Basic level, 2. Immersive level.
The basic level program consists of the students watching an interactive play designed to introduce the four types of personalities engaged in a situation similar to a placement interview. Their strengths and weaknesses are made relatable. Balancing out behavior is emphasized at the end of the play. This is followed by a debriefing session with the students where the findings of the play are clarified and emphasized. This is a one-day program.
The immersive level program consists of a workshop added on to the play wherein role play and professional situations will be simulated. The balancing behaviors that are the key to improved chances of success will be put to practice. This is a two-day program.
